HOSTSEUSS with the MOSTSEUSS.

I could not be more excited to share this Baby Shower with you! It's dear to my heart because it was thrown for a friend I have known since birth and now she is having a BABY!! The theme of the baby shower you ask? Dr. Seuss!

Jill, the mommy-to-be is decorating baby Molly Kate's nursery in Dr. Seuss so we have her to thank for the fun theme! I think everyone who attended will agree that this baby shower was a Seussical success! See for yourself...

...starting with the Seuss Baby Shower invitation designed for Jill & Molly Kate. Lisa (my mom) is a word genius (to say the least) and came up with the clever wording for the invitation!
 Invitation wording:

Big M.  Little m.
What begins with M?
Mini merry Molly
And her mother-to-be!

Dr. Seuss is on the loose
At a baby shower honoring
Jill Alexander Daniel

Come with a spoon
Come with the moon
Don’t come too soon
You may have to vacuum.

Saturday, May 5th
one to three
Red fish, pink fish
Oh my, oh me!

**How clever is listing the time as one to three (1pm - 3pm)??

From the front porch to the back door, we transformed the house into Seussville.
Graphics printed from the shower invitation poked out of the front porch fern
 to add some excitement as guests entered.

These Dr. Seuss cards were a fabulous find at T.J.Maxx for $3.00!
A ribbon & a hole punch later and these cards went from thank you notes
to a great garland that greeted our guests at the front door!

After the Seuss garland came the entryway decorated with bright yellow curtains.

I wish I could take credit for this creation, but my creative
mom and sister are behind this awesome handmade floral arrangement!
{crafted from paper, round magnets, pipe cleaners and sticks}

My sister, mom & I had a blast decorating the shower together.

You can't have a Dr. Seuss party without red fish, blue fish.
Our blue fish was housed in a red gumball machine!

BUNNIES, CARROTS and TULIPS. OH MY!

Well, I am a little late (as usual), but I hope everyone had a Hoppy Belated Easter! Clay and I had the honor of hosting Easter for his family this year and wanted to share our bunny bits with you.

Figure I'd start from the outside in! Welcome to our front porch.

The top of this wrought iron carrot (from Pier1) was hunter green
and hard to see from the street so I painted it a lime green instead!
Now it matches our potted plant perfectly.

Here we are beforehand!
{my special somebunny}

The entryway greeting our Easter guests.

Above our kitchen table, I reused the brown craft paper I cut from Halloween
and hot glued white hand-cut bunnies in place of the spooky letters.

For whatever reason, scissors + hot glue = happiness for me :)

The Easter bunny on our kitchen table was courtesy of my mom.
{Thanks Mom! His gold jacket matched the dried billy balls great!}
 The vases are from Thrift World. What a wonderful place.

I used yellow peeps and orange tulips for the Easter centerpieces.
Tom Thumb had a great price on tulips!

Even though we were hosting Easter, I decided not to pull out the fine china. OK, fine...I lied, we don't have any. Nevertheless, I am all for less clean up & a huge fan of disposable plates and silverware!

Maybe displaying the disposables in a fun fashion makes me feel better.
A snapshot of our carrot cutlery.

Our ceramic dog even got dressed up for the party with some $1 bunny ears from Target's dollar section.
I placed scrapbook paper over the framed artwork hanging on the fireplace and then taped an Easter card I received in the mail on top of the scrapbook paper.

{The cute Easter card is compliments of my sweet Pi Phi little, Bethany.
Beth, your card made my day and was the finishing touch for the fireplace decor!}

I jazzed up the fireplace mantle with handmade carrot garland.
One thing I always have plenty of is scrapbook scissors and scrapbook paper!

Again, thankful for Target's dollar section!
I bought two packs of their metallic eggs and hung them from the branches on our fireplace.

Another cute bunny from my mom!

I bought these bunnies on Saturday before our Easter lunch.
Did you know the weekend of Easter most of the decor is on sale?
Thankfully, I snagged these little bunnies at T.J. Maxx for $5.00.

Well, there you have it, our belated Easter elements!
Stay tuned for several new and exciting home projects.
New shelves, curtains, & an ottoman. Oh My!

PUT A CORK IN IT.

Happy National Puppy Day! Did you know it was today?
Our yellow lab named Bayley is 2.5 years old, but she still acts like a mischievous puppy!

If you read about our new bar cart last Friday, I thought I should share further
proof that our puppy is in love with the wine corks on our bar cart. Ironically enough,
she ate more corks last Friday...probably as I was writing my blog post. Figures.

I snapped this picture as evidence. Guilty!

RAISING THE BAR.

If you follow pinterest or other decorating blogs then I'm sure you have seen pictures of bar carts floating around. Fortunately, while I was antique shopping in Abilene, I came across a bar cart (for a great price of $45!) and I am now the proud owner of one!

I was drawn to this bar cart for several reasons:
1.) It's round instead of square,
2.) I love anything gold &
3.) the shelves are glass.

One of my new favorite places to frequent is a Thrift Store down the street from our house
where I bought these three glasses for a $1.00! Can't beat that price :)

The gold branches are from a store in Santa Fe called ACC
If you are ever in New Mexico, I suggest you visit!

Up close and personal. The bamboo detailing. My favorite part.

Unfortunately, we've lost a couple of wine corks because our dog thought they were mini chew toys,
but we've managed to keep the rest intact.

The glass decanter was a fabulous find at a Flea Market in Clyde - $3.00!

Proof that Bayley likes to sit by our new bar cart.
She is looking out the window, but I know she is eyeing the rest of our wine corks!!

Speaking of bars, I plan to raise mine by blogging more often.  Hold me to it!

GO FISH.

Lures and fish, and rustic plaid patterns, that's what little boys are made of. Obviously this isn't the original poem, but I do have the 'snips and snails, and puppy dog tails' saying stuck in my head because I've been designing so many invitations for little boys!

{Baby Boy Shower Invitation}

This baby shower invitation was requested by the sister of the daddy-to-be. Her brother is a big fan of hunting and fishing! The design for the rustic fishing theme was inspired by the custom-made artwork purchased for Baby Bowen's nursery below.  Love this idea!

Want to see another fishing theme? If so, you can check out this fishing invitation from a previous post. Have I lured you in yet? {Ha, I'm sorry. I couldn't resist.} If you are in need of my design skills or you just love my corny jokes, drop me a line at pinkdoordesign@gmail.com!
